At Maple Ridge, plant health is not an afterthought — it’s foundational.

Dahlias are an investment of time, space, and trust. As buyers ourselves, we know how disappointing it is to receive diseased, mislabeled, or damaged tubers. We value your trust and take that responsibility seriously, so we implement strict sanitation and inspection practices to protect the integrity of every tuber we sell.

Our Commitment to Clean Stock

✔ Virus Vigilance
Every growing season, plants are monitored closely for signs of viral infection or instability. Any plant showing symptoms is immediately removed and destroyed — no exceptions!

✔ Tool Sanitation Protocols

All cutting tools are sanitized between plants when taking cuttings, harvesting flowers, and during tuber division. This reduces the risk of cross-contamination from plant to plant.

✔ Isolated Cutting Practices
When starting cuttings, each cutting is rooted in isolation. They do not share water or communal rooting environments. This significantly reduces the potential spread of pathogens.

✔ Careful Tuber Division
Tuber clumps are divided with clean tools and inspected individually. Only firm, viable tubers with intact necks and healthy crowns are packaged for sale.

✔ Active Culling
If a variety underperforms, shows instability, or raises concerns during the growing season, it is removed from our inventory.

✔ No U-Pick Policy
We do not offer U-Pick access to our dahlia fields.
While we love welcoming visitors, proper cutting sanitation requires consistent tool sterilization and plant handling protocols. Limiting cutting access allows us to maintain the highest plant health standards across our stock.

Licensed & Inspected

Maple Ridge Flower Farm is licensed and inspected by New York State. We comply with all applicable state agricultural regulations regarding plant health and interstate shipment.

No grower can guarantee absolute immunity from plant viruses — but we can guarantee diligence, transparency, and responsible growing practices.
